“Who Am I?” This is a question that is almost on every person’s mind… especially for those of us born in the West. Long before modern man decided to take the path of technological advancement which destroys nature to build computer chips, etc., our Ancestors from traditional indigenous society had asked that question of who we are to better understand their origins and to maintain harmony between themselves in the material and immaterial world. This approach allowed them to stay connected to the spiritual aspect of themselves which also helped to maintain an awareness of that dualism (material and immaterial) existing in every individual of the society.

Those indigenous tribes understood that every human being is a spiritual being having a physical experience and even though they were in a physical body they had to stay connected to those who allowed them to have that experience here on Earth. They realized that maintaining that dualism assists the individual to maintain a sense of who they are and what they are supposed to be doing while living on Earth. They relied on guidance coming from the invisible reality to navigate their Earthly reality.

The concept of “you” extends far beyond what we in modern society ponder. Meaning, we think that the concept of I is one that is separate from those who paved the way for us to exist in life: our parents, grandparents and all those who are connected to our lineage who lived, walked and experienced the lives we now experience. They knew it was better to stay connected to that wisdom and wealth of knowledge that has been passed on, shared from those Ancestors to us that provides us the context to face and overcome the challenges that life brings.

So the question of “Who are You?, is a concept that will take every individual on a journey to reconnect with themselves starting with our parents and grandparents who we possibly saw firsthand and will only be completed with our investigation of those we did not see but who still exist within “us”.
